Phillips Foods is gearing up for expansion into north Atlantic seafood with two projects in Canada for lobster, snow crab and more.
Baltimore, MD – March 7, 2024 Phillips Foods is gearing up for expansion into north Atlantic seafood with two recent projects in Canada. In addition to the purchase of the Pêcheries Bas-Caraquet Fisheries facility in Bas-Caraquet, New Brunswick, Phillips has also been approved to acquire the assets of South Shore Seafoods Ltd. in a restructuring deal which encompasses multiple plants in the province of Prince Edward Island as well as holding tanks in Nova Scotia.
The addition of these two entities in Canada will enable a significant expansion of the Phillips product portfolio, not only with frozen, fresh and pasteurized seafood proteins, but also with a future range of newly developed value-added seafood appetizers, soups, cakes and entrées featuring lobster, snow crab, Jonah crab, scallops and more.

The company plans to reopen the Bas-Caraquet facility in early April, and intends to close on the South Shore properties by the end of March.
