Go Ahead…No Excuses Needed!
Find the Right Balance
The 2007 Food and Health Survey, conducted by the International Food Information
Council, reports that over 65% of Americans surveyed have made changes to improve
the healthfulness of their diet in the past year. Over 70% are concerned with both
the amount and type of fats they consume and the total amount of sugar they consume.
I believe we all know that a diet that includes the frequent and excessive consumption
of salty snack foods, candy and liquor is not the healthiest approach. However,
I also believe there are no “good foods” or “bad foods,” just “good diets” and “bad
diets.” Virtually all foods can have a place in the diet, if consumed in moderation.
Foods that should be consumed frequently in the diet include fruits and vegetables,
whole-grain breads and cereals, lean meat, fish, poultry and low-fat dairy products.
Phillips crab meat is always high in protein, virtually fat free, contains no sugar,
and is a lot lower in sodium than most deli turkey.
